This is not a new idea. All religions accept the concept of an ultimate being which we usually call God. Some perceive God as a being or form like Jesus or Krishna. Others experience God as a formless consciousness or life-generating energy that pervades all the universe. In Christianity this formless aspect might be called the «Logos» as referred to by St. John. He explains that all that exists is created by this «Logos» and that nothing exists that has not been created by It. Thus all has a divine origin. There is nothing that you can see or even think that is not an expression of this divine source of all creation. There is no other source ? no other cause for any being, thing or event. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The Light of a Movie Projector * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * /B>A model that might help us to understand this is that of the light of a movie projector. There is only one light that, once it passes through the film, breaks up into forms and colors that in turn impinge upon the screen - creating the illusion that there are beings, buildings, nature, animals, machines, vehicles, earth, water, sky and or course interaction between all of these. Nothing can appear or happen on the screen that is not caused by or is not an expression of this one light. In the same way every being, object and event that appears or occurs in this world is a projection of that one universal divine consciousness. What does this mean? All beings are expressions of the divine. Our spouse is an expression of this divine consciousness. So are our children, parents and siblings. Our friends and co-workers ? even our employers and employees. All strangers are expressions of this one divine consciousness. We ourselves are expressions of that consciousness. All objects are expressions of that universal consciousness. All of nature is obviously an expression of this divine consciousness. Even man made objects such as buildings and cars and all that we produce is an expression ? through mankind ? of that consciousness. All events occur within that universal consciousness. Nothing can happen on the screen that is not a manifestation of that one light. Nothing can happen in this world that does not have as its source what one univers l consciousness. However it is actually the film in front of the light that gives form to the beings, objects and events. The light gives reality, the film gives form. There is no reality without the light ? no images will be there. There is no form without the film. There will be just white light ? pure consciousness. The film is the universal mind of which we are a part. It is comprised of the personal tendencies of each being in addition to all common and collective physical, emotional, mental and spiritual qualities of all beings. It contains all individual minds and faculties. We Cr ate our Reality We individually and collectively form this universal consciousness that in turn is creating, sustaining and flowing through all that exists ? including ourselves. Thus we co-create our reality. We do so by participating in this universal consciousness with our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, expectations, tendencies, behaviors and actions. We input these into this collective pool of impulses and receive from that pool the results of our specific inputs. In this way we co-create lives and our social and planetary reality at this time. But we will look at this aspect of the truth later one. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * God is in All ? Including Ourselves * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The concept we are focusing on here is that all that we perceive is an expression of this one divine consciousness. This means that what we call «God» regardless of our particular religious alignment, is actually in every being and event that we perceive. This also means that this «God» or Divinity is also within you and all you know. St Paul affirmed this in this statement, «you are the temple of God and he lives in you.» It also means that this divine consciousness is living in and expressing itself through all beings as vehicles of its expression on the material plane. Christ spoke of this when he told the following parable: For I was hungry, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the God shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it to me. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Loving Our Enemies * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is also true of people who annoy us or even harm us. They are all expressions of the Divine. They may not have contact with their true selves, but they can never cease being expressions of the divine and our lesson is always to love them. Even if we have to restrict their activities in some way for the good of all ? our lesson even in that process - is to love them and see the divine within them ? even when they cannot. So the affirmation to contemplate on and understand until we are ready to move on to the next concept is "All I see is an expression of God". * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * We are Evolving Expressions of the Divine * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This does not mean that each person or event we experience is that highest possible expression of that consciousness that is flowing through him, her or it. It may be a very limited or distorted expression, but the reality behind it is divine. Returning to the example of the projector light, we know that the light before it passes through the film is always pure and white. But what will show up on the screen depends on the quality and images on the film. Thus, the consciousness, source or reality behind all beings we meet and events that occur is pure and divine. But after it passes through our limited - yet evolving minds, it appears in our physical reality as impure and problematic. Thus, behind all person who are angry, bitter, negative, ill, fearful, complaining, criticizing, hateful, handicapped, insane and even murderous is that one divine consciousness. The true being behind all of these appearances is pure and divine. The mind (the film) alters the appearance of that purity and divinity on the mental and physical level. Each person we encounter is ? regardless of his or her external expression - an expression of this one divine consciousness in the process of becoming able to express that inner perfection here on the emotional, mental and physi al level. During the period of employing this exercise, remind yourself that each person you see and every event you witness is a projection of that one higher consciousness what we usually call God. No matter how negative or intimidating any person or event may appear, the reality is that it is a temporary but evolving expression of that one divine consciousness. Try this when with your spouse, children and parents, as well as work and while commuting or traveling (not while you are driving).
